We could not recommend this place. They did not have our updated reservation upon arrival so check in was slow. Upon checkout, their "computers didn't work" so we didn't even get a receipt until we arrived home and checked our email -- tough luck if there'd been issues. They also thought it was cute that they catered to the feral cats that lived just outside our room. The room and the entire outdoor area smelled like cat poop during our entire stay, it was disgusting. The room was outdated, and I would not go barefoot on the carpet. We called the office but they didn't offer to do anything. Only 2 small chairs provided to sit on. The coffee pot was a one-cup disaster that didn't even make a full cup, so we had to buy our own pot and cups just to get a decent cup of coffee in the morning. The room itself was so noisy, you could hear entire conversations next door. Room service never made the bed, they only pulled the bedspread up one day (we were there 3 days, 4 nights). We did not use the dining room based on what we saw at check-in - only a couple of old tables, old lobby, people smoking outside which you had to walk through to go to the tiny lobby. There is a Dairy Queen and Dominoes Pizza next door, but that's about it. Our room was in the "new" area...in the back by the double train tracks, which, by the way, had trains running 24/7. I'd hate to see the rooms in the "old" area. This place fits the bill of a "no tell motel" frequented by truckers and contractors, concrete parking area full of semis, diesel pickup trucks pulling campers, lots of loose gravel -- definitely not what the pictures depict on the website. When we pulled into our parking spot, two young men in sweat pants and no shirts, pants hanging down to their knees, smoking, jumped up and ran to a car pulling up with a young girl in it. Drug deal? Prostitution?? By the looks of them, it could have been either. Not a place for couples looking for a nice place to stay for a few days. Better hotels nearby.
Great hotel for the cost! The room was clean and well maintained. The bedding was just changed and brand new as I checked in, which brightened up the room a lot. The bathroom could use a little freshening up. but was fine for my needs. The staff were wonderful and so friendly. Helpful in recommending good places for dinner. The breakfast was the typical stuff...nothing overly exciting but serves its purpose. Would stay here again!
This was a nice hotel with pleasant staff, clean rooms, a nice over-sized mini fridge with a big enough freezer for our ice packs. There was a nice laminated note on the dresser explaining how the owner's father was an innkeeper and how important it was to him to make his guests feel at home and how this owner wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. It was a nice welcoming touch.
